Ultrasound Technology for Waste Sludge Treatment

Auxiliary processing and preprocessing modules

Description

The ultrasonic sludge pretreatment module can be effectively applied to two different wastewater treatment processes—integrated with aerobic treatment systems and anaerobic digestion systems—delivering combined benefits including sludge reduction, enhanced reaction efficiency, and improved energy recovery.
Added to Inquiry list.

Mode 1 Integrated with Aerobic Treatment Systems

Within conventional wastewater treatment processes (primary clarifier → aeration tank → secondary clarifier), the ultrasonic module is introduced into the return sludge system to perform cell disruption on sludge:
Enhanced biodegradability, improving microbial degradation efficiency
Reduced excess sludge production (lower dewatering and transportation costs)
Stabilized aeration tank operation and reduced risk of sludge bulking
This technology is well suited for facilities already equipped with conventional aerobic treatment systems, offering low upgrade costs and rapid implementation.

Mode 2 Integrated with Anaerobic Treatment Systems

In treatment processes incorporating anaerobic digestion systems (such as UASB), the Fengyu system integrates sludge thickening units with ultrasonic modules. The pretreated high-concentration sludge is then fed into the anaerobic digester for methane fermentation:
Increased solubilization of organic matter, boosting biogas yield (energy recovery benefits)
Significantly shortened anaerobic reaction time and improved volumetric productivity
Reduced residual sludge volume after anaerobic digestion, resulting in lower final dewatering volumes
This mode is particularly suitable for agricultural, food-processing, and industrial wastewater treatment plants, enabling simultaneous treatment of high-strength organic sludge while generating renewable energy.
